Responsibilities
- Adhere to building code requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Assists with demolition and debris disposal.
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
- Install windows
- May prepare cost estimates for clients.
- Will always practice good housekeeping to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite
- Provide excellent customer service
- The capability to work outside in extreme weather conditions depending on the season
- The physical ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs., as well as performing repetitive motions, bending, crouching and/or kneeling for long periods throughout the day
- Other duties as required
Certification + Experience
- 4-6 years of experience in residential/commercial construction
- Qualified Carpenter Journeyperson
- Valid BC driver’s license
